With this new year, comes a new approach to our release cycle. That also means you’re going to be getting more frequent updates from us about what’s new in Magma. Sometimes those changes will be bigger, sometimes smaller. Here's the latest…

Increased limits for Spark users

We’re exploring ways to try open up some of our premium perks and features to our wider userbase. As part of that, we’ve made a couple of adjustments to limits for our Spark and Blaze plans.

Storage

Spark users now have 1GB of storage for drawings in their ArtDesk (increased from 100MB). Blaze users now have 10GB of storage (up from 5GB).

Sequence panels

Spark users can now have up to 100 panels or drawings linked in a sequence (increased from 4). Blaze users still have unlimited panels in the sequence.

Ads

Some of you may have noticed ads appearing in your dashboard and editor (canvas UI) recently. This is something that we are testing with a relatively small group (of around 2000 users) as a way to make certain perks from the paid plan (like those mentioned above) available to ALL of our users.

Over time, we will roll ads out to more users, add benefits for free users, and new perks for Blaze users. Keeping the tests small for now lets us catch some bugs and monitor performance. Blaze users will not see ads.

If you feel like the ads are reducing your drawing space, you might also want to check out some of our tips for using Magma on small screens.

Share and Invite buttons

The top right corner of your editor has some slight changes. To make it easier to invite your friends to draw online with you, we’re split the Invite and Share functions.

Invite

The new Invite button will open a popup where you can select recent people you've drawn with or followers to join you on the canvas. You can also invite them via email address.

Share

The share button has been improved and focused toward downloading your work and sharing it on social media. You can still invite users from here as well.

We’re aware of a bit of a slight design issue with these new buttons on smaller displays, phones in particular. Improving the mobile experience is an on-going and tricky thing, but we are working on it.

User button

Then the menu for your User button (top right with your display name) has also got a minor update. We’ve just simplified this a bit to declutter. To easily visit your profile, tap anywhere in the bar that contains your display name, username, and avatar.

View Following

Lastly, you can now see who follows you by tapping on the Follower number on your profile. Here you can search by username and also follow them back if you aren't yet.

We're planning something big that we spoke about in our first AMA session last month. While we work on that, be sure to follow the official Magma profile.

As always, we’re hunting down bugs and fixing things along the way. That’s all for this update. Be sure to join the Magma Discord server to be a part of product discussions and news about what’s coming next. See you on the canvas!
