We're into the second half of 2025 already! This first release for July brings a few updates that emerged through some of our ongoing discussions with games studio, Couch Heroes, including pressure opacity and new keyboard shortcuts.

Brush opacity pressure

We've now added a pressure sensitivity for the opacity setting of the brush, eraser and pixel pencil. This is something requested by the Magma community, but also came out of our regular chats with the Couch Heroes art team to better understand their needs. Our engineer on this feature, Tomek, has been on this for quite some time and we're excited to finally release it to everyone.

If you are using a drawing tablet with a pressure sensitive pen, then this setting will give you more control with getting light and dark strokes. You can even adjust some of the existing brushes to get a more marker-like feel.

New Keyboard Shortcuts

There are a couple of new keyboard shortcuts available including for resetting your selected colors and for rotating your brush angle.

Color reset

Ever wanted to just reset your selected colors to black and white? Well now we've got a shortcut for that. Ctrl + Shift + U is the default by you are free to change this in your Application settings.

Brush angle rotation

If you like using a flat brush while painting, like our Thin Flat or Streaky 1 then you might find this useful. We've add shortcuts for adjusting the angle of the brush. Now you don't have to open the Andvanced brush settings or rotate your canvas to get the right angle.

By default, no keys are assigned to this yet but you can add them by going to your Application Settings -> Shortcuts -> Other section.

Other changes and fixes

As always, there are some other smaller things we're patching up and improving…

Fixes:

  • Fix blurry background in user-card

  • Fix share from entity grid

  • Fix some issues with Fusion and Team members page

As always, feel free to send us your Feature Requests in Magma to let us know. If you have any questions, reach out to us on Discord or send us a message.
