Welcome to our second April release update. We're excited to see all the awesome artwork that you've been posting to your profile gallery and we're already working on improvements for this feature. See more below of what the Magma team has been up to…

Cropping posts for Gallery

You can now post selected areas of your canvas to post to the gallery. No more having to copy-paste to a new canvas for posting. Here's how it works:

  1. Tap on the blue Share button in the top right of your canvas UI;

  2. Then choose Post Selection.

  3. A popup will appear instructing you to select an area

  4. Hide the layers owned by other users if needed.

  5. Then press next to continue creating your post.

The alternative approach is to press Publish to Gallery from your canvas, and then tap the crop icon that appear in the image preview.

The next phase of this is Feed for being able to see what people in your network have posted. As part of this update, our team of beta testers now begin to experiment with it and provide us with feedback before we plan its release.

Notifications updates

We've updated a bit of the notifications behaviour to trya and make Magma just a little less spammy.

  • By default, you will no longer be notified about updates to a canvas.

  • Canvas updates are aggregated to 1 per day;

  • We won't send emails for notifications that you've already seen in the app.

You can adjust your notifications per canvas in the Drawing Settings through the File menu.

In your notifications dropdown, you'll find options to Mark all as read, or to Remove All.

Art Jam Live List improvement

In an effort to improve the performance of the Art Jams Live page, we've made some changes to how this loads. We've implemnented a lazy-loading approach here so that after the first batch have loaded, more will only load up if you scroll further down the page. This should make your Live page load much faster!

We are still seeing a few users reporting issue with Art Jams. iPad users should check for a system update. This has solved the problem for a few users. If you are on a Chromebook, or still experiencing the issue on a different device, please contact our Support team.

Bug fixes and improvements

Along with new features, the team has also been hard at work with various bug fixes and improvements. In particular, we've been focusing on Art Jams loading times and performance of the Live Now section. Thank you to everyone that reported bugs recently. Some specific things we've fixed include:

  • Fixed issue with sign-up flow;

  • Fixed Likes on posts not updating when scrolling through gallery images;

  • Fixed hidden Art Jam visibility;

  • Fixed problem with canvas invitations not being delivered in some cases.

———

That's all for now…we've got more exciting features to build! Be sure to join the Magma Discord server to be a part of product discussions and news about what’s coming next. See you on the canvas!
