Welcome to our second update for August. We've got a couple of things that we hope will help our our creators hosting Art Jams and who might be drawing on mobile tablets.

Earning through Art Jams

Creators can now host Art Jams with an entrance fee!

We've been gathering feedback and suggestions from a key group of artists, and one suggestion from them was the ability to add an entry fee for Art Jams. This would be especially valuable for those hosting educational jams or more complex ones that take a lot of effort to manage.

When creating a new Art Jam, you'll see a toggle at the bottom of the window to set a Mag amount for entry.

You can identify Art Jams that have an entrance fee by the Mags icon and fee amount in the preview on your live Art Jam list.

You can read more about paid Art Jams in this user guide.

Custom Pressure Curve

You can now customize the pressure curve in Magma!

Since we added the pressure setting for brush opacity, some of you mentioned that it takes a lot of pressure on iPad to get maximum opacity. It was an issue on Android tablets too. But now you can adjust the global pressure sensitivity for your device that will apply to your brush, pixel pencil, blend tool, and eraser.

In your Edit menu, you will find a Pen pressure Settings button

You can adjust this curve to be softer or harder. Making the curve softer (as shown below) will mean that you don't have to press so hard to get heavier lines. Give it a try!

Remember, you need to have a pressure sensitive stylus and tablet to benefit from this feature.

Bug fixes and other updates

As always, there are bugs sneaking around that we try to fix with each update. Thank you to all who report these issues to us and help to improve the Magma experience:

  • Minor update to translations in the app;

  • Added size ratio toggle for Pixel Pencil;

  • Art Jam optimizations;

As always, feel free to send us your Feature Requests in Magma to let us know. If you have any questions, reach out to us on Discord or send us a message.
