Unlike previous development-related updates, this week's update brings some new changes to Magma's community guidelines. To keep Magma a safe and healthy place for our artists, we have written new guidelines to clarify what is allowed on the site and in which locations.

Alongside this, we want to thank all of you who attended Lightbox 2025. It was great to meet everyone there, and we hope you had a good time competing in the Magma x Wacom competition! Check out some of the key pieces below!

An Update to Community Guidelines

As a creative space dedicated to collaborative artistic expression, Magma’s community guidelines ensure that everyone can express themselves, whilst making the place safe and welcoming for creators, artists, and their fans. However, as we recognise that more clarification might be needed for particular cases, following feedback with our creators, we have updated the community guidelines on our website.

Please see our new community guidelines here.

As Magma is a global community, we have a responsibility to ensure that Magma is a safe and positive environment for all artists worldwide. Therefore, to continue using Magma, it is required to be familiar with Magma's community guidelines.

As this is a significant update, we are also giving artists on Magma one week to adjust to the new guidelines, as we recognise that some changes may be required. Among the new changes are new distinctions on what is allowed in public and private settings - some content allowed in private may not be allowed in public spaces, so please read the community guidelines to understand what is allowed.

On November 12th, 2025, guidelines will go live across the platform, and the moderation team will operate on these new terms.

Thank you all for keeping Magma safe, and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

Thank you for Lightbox 2025

Alongside this, the team wants to thank everyone for a successful Lightbox 2025. We had an amazing time meeting everyone there, and we sincerely hope you all had a good time at the convention. We hope you all enjoy your art prints, stickers, and good memories.

At Lightbox 2025, we also hosted a competition with Wacom, under the theme of 'Radiance.' It was amazing to see the pieces that were drawn as part of this. Check out the winning piece alongside some honourable mentions below!

For those who missed out on this competition, don't worry. The next one is coming very soon… get ready to be blown away… 🌪️

Bug Fixes

As usual, our engineering team is working hard to fix any bugs and issues found on the platform. Thank you to everyone who has reported bugs to us. Here's what we got this time:

  • Fixed rake brushes

  • Fixed opacity for the custom shape tool in stroke mode

  • Fixed issues with drawings not loading for up to a minute

  • Fixed the scatter axis toggle button in the brush advanced settings modal

  • Fixed issues with viewport centring and fitting

  • Fixed an issue with moving the user out of the viewport when centring on the cursor of another user

  • Fixed missing background on cursor avatars with transparency

  • Fixed trimming layer names that are too long

As always, let us know what you think — feel free to send us your Feature Requests, reach out to us on Discord or send us a message.
